15-Minute Beef Lok Lak with Khun Sauce

Beef Lok Lak is a complete, balanced Cambodian meal featuring tender beef, warm rice, a fried egg, and a fresh salad of lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, and onion. It is normally served with warm rice and a pepper-lime dipping sauce. This quick recipe uses Khun Marinade Sauce and Kampot pepper for rich flavor without a long preparation time.

Enough for approximately two servings.

For the beef
- 300–350 g beef, cut into bite-size cubes
- 2 tablespoons Khun Marinade Sauce
- ½ tablespoon chili sauce
- ½ tablespoon ketchup or tomato sauce
- ½ tablespoon ground Kampot pepper
- A splash of water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
Pepper-lime sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- ½ teaspoon ground Kampot pepper
- A pinch of salt
- Optional sliced chili
- Optional pinch of sugar
Mix everything in a small bowl and adjust the flavor to taste.
To complete the plate
For serving
- 2 eggs
- Fresh lettuce leaves
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 1–2 tomatoes, sliced
- ½ small onion, thinly sliced
- Warm jasmine rice

Marinate the beef
Season and rest
Slice the beef into bite-size cubes. Mix it with 2 tablespoons of Khun Sauce, ½ tablespoon chili sauce, ½ tablespoon ketchup, ½ tablespoon pepper, and a splash of water. Let it marinate while preparing the vegetables.

Sauté the beef and fry the egg
Cook quickly over high heat
Heat oil in a pan. Sauté the minced garlic until fragrant. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry over high heat until browned. In a separate pan, fry an egg sunny-side up.

Plate the Lok Lak
Build a fresh and colorful plate
Arrange lettuce, sliced cucumber, tomatoes, and onions on your serving plate. Spoon the hot beef over the vegetables and top it with the fried egg. Serve with warm rice and sauce.
